St. Albert and Edmonton RCMP arrest three in fraud investigation

Three men were arrested as a result of the investigation. Police are still searching for Dilraj Marahar, who has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The Edmonton RCMP Auto Theft Unit — with the assistance of the St. Albert RCMP — have charged four men following an investigation into an Edmonton area car dealership.

The investigation began in October 2024, when the Edmonton RCMP Auto Theft Unit looked into an individual who had received three fraudulent vehicle loans. Through the investigation, the police discovered that the owners of KO Auto Finance, an Edmonton area car dealership along St. Albert Trail were involved in the frauds and were laundering money through the business.

Mounties found that the four owners had acquired vehicle loans through three financial institutions by producing forged documents. The money gathered was then used for personal expenses and investments, police said.

With the help of the St. Albert RCMP, police arrested Karanveer Marahar, Omid Nazari and Shaharier Alam. The police are still searching for a Dilraj Marahar, who currently has an outstanding warrant for his arrest. All four men are residents of Edmonton, Alta.

Dilraj Marahar, 28, and Nazari, 37, have been charged with money laundering and fraud over $5000.

Karanveer Marahar, 32, has been charged with fraud over $5000, uttering forged document, and forgery. Alam, 26, is charged with fraud over $5000 and forgery.

Karanveer Marahar, Nazari, and Alam appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were released on a Release Order with conditions. The three men are next scheduled to appear on Mar. 31, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton.
